Goal:
to better anticipate the evolution of Earth's climate by increasing our confidence in the results obtained through climate modelling. It is thus essential to improve:
- the physical content of climate models
- the physicla understanding of large-scale climate dynamics
Henceforth, two major work axes for the group for the next few years:
- Developing further the LMDZ model and contributing to general improvment of the IPSL-ESM model:
- improving the representation of convective and cloud processes
- use it from regional to global scales
- reduce biases of the coupled model
- Using a "hierarchy" of models and approaches to:
- understand the couplings between diabatic processes and atmospheric circulation
